Hyperlinking text to documents, external websites, pages within your sites, and to e-mail addresses is simple in TridionBeatrix CMS.
The following instructions will provide information on how to use Tridion the Beatrix Link Manager to link text on your page to documents, other pages within your site, and e-mail addresses.

Getting Started
These instructions assume you have created components to add hyperlink text to.

For any of the types of Hyperlinks, you have to navigate to the component:
Go to your Root folder and locate the page that has the component you need to edit.
Open the component.
Locate the text and/or create text that will be used as the "link" to the website.
Highlight this text and click the
Hyperlink
button in the Format tab (highlighted in yellow below):

Click the Hyperlink
button (yellow) in the Format tab once you have highlighted the text to beging hyperlinking.
Once you have done this, you can use any of the types of Hyperlinks discussed in the instructions below.
The Beatrix Link Manager
The Link Manager matches the tool in the News and Profile modules.
Highlight your text and select the link icon in the menu bar.

In the next window, you will select the link type:
Internal
- this can be used to link directly to aPage Title
orContent block
on another page.External
- this can be used to a full https:// url or to a relative link in https://medicine.yale.edu, e.g. /psychiatryDocument
- this is used to link to PDFs and other documents in the media library. You can select from an existing document, upload a new document or override the existing document that is linked from this manager.Image
- This allows you to link to an image already in the Media Library or to upload a new image.Email
- This creates a standardmailto: link

External Websites
Once you’ve navigated to your component, highlighted the text you want to serve as the link, and clicked the Hyperlink
button (see instructions above), you will see the pop up below:

In the Type field, select the
http://
option (highlighted in yellow above).In the URL field, insert the address of the external website.
Do not remove the "http://" that has already been included.
If desired, enter Title text for the link.
This is the text that appears in a small box when a visitor to your site mouses over the link.
The Target field should remain
Default
.Click
OK
.Save & Close
your component, then publish your page.
Make sure to test your page once publish to ensure that the text is hyperlinking to your chosen website.
Pages Within Your Own Site
As a rule, you should avoid hyperlinking to pages within your own site through using a website address. Instead, you will link to a component.
Once you’ve navigated to the component in which you want to include the link, highlighted the text you want to serve as the link, and clicked the Hyperlink
button (see instructions above), you will see the pop up below:

In the Type field, select
Component
(highlighted in yellow above).Click on the yellow folder with the magnifying glass (highlighted in blue above).
Tridion will take you to your Building Blocks folder.
Select a component from the page to which you want to direct visitors.
Typically, you want to pick a content component.
After choosing a component, the name of the component will automatically appear in the Title field.
You can leave this text as is, delete it, or enter your own title text for the link.
The Target field should remain

.Save & Close
your component, then publish your page.

Even though other Publications live in Tridion Beatrix CMS along with your page, you can only use the component Component link to link to content within the same publication your page is in. For pages from other Publications, use the |
Email Addresses
Once you’ve navigated to the component in which you want to include the link, highlighted the text you want to serve as the link, and clicked the Hyperlink
button (see instructions above), you will see the pop up below:

In the Type field, select
mailto:
(highlighted in yellow above).In the URL field after the "mailto:", enter the e-mail address.
If desired, enter Title text for the email address.
This is the text that appears in a small box when a visitor to your site mouses over the link.
The Target field should remain
Default
.Click
OK
.Repeat for each e-mail address you want to hyperlink.
Save & Close
your component, then publish your page.
Make sure to test your page once publish to ensure that the text is hyperlinking to the chosen e-mail address(es).

The Link Checker
The Link Manager has a built in checker. If your external link is improperly formatted or contains a Safelink you will see a link warning and will not be able to save your work until this is corrected.
