Specialist Finder Page

Use the information below to update specialist information to help them display when users search on https://www.yalemedicine.org/specialists

Step 1: Medical Specialty

The first step allows the user to filter by a condition or a specialty. The condition search is powered by our Clinical Content Mapping System (CCM) and is automated.

However, the specialty filter is powered by information each provider completes on their profile and can be updated by visiting the Patient Care section of a person’s profile through beatrix.yale.edu/.

  1. Navigate to the person’s profile by visiting https://beatrix.yale.edu/

  2. In the left navigation, click Patient Care.

  3. The Specialties and Sub-Specialties for the person is at the top of the Patient Care Page. These are self-selected and are used to show people on the YM website when a user Filters by Specialty.

  4. If a person is missing from a specialty filter on the website, simply add the specialty to to their profile.

Managing Patient Care Specialties:

From the Patient Care page of the profile, you can manage exsting specialties and add new ones.

  • If the profile already has specialties selected, they will appear at the top of the page (highlighted in blue above). You can sort them by clicking and dragging the sort icons (highlighted in yellow above) or remove them from the profile with the delete buttons (highlighted in red above).

  • New specialties can be added by typing in the search bar and selecting a result or clicking the + icon to the right of the specialty in the tree (highlighted in green above).

  • If you do not see a specialty in the tree and cannot find it in the search bar, you can suggest a new specialty using the button at the bottom of the tree (highlighted in blue below). The suggestion will create a ticket for the Web Services team, who will review the suggestion and determine whether it should be added.

Step 2: Patient Age

The second step allows users to filter by the patient’s age. Again, this is information provided by each person through their profile.

To update age groups:

  1. Navigate to the person’s profile by visiting https://beatrix.yale.edu/

  2. In the left navigation, click Patient Care.

  3. Scroll down to the Patient Interactions section.

  4. Select the age group(s) the specialist treats (highlighted in blue below).

Step 3: Location

The last step allows users to filter by locations. Again, this is self-identified by specialists through their profiles.

To update locations for a person:

  1. Navigate to the person’s profile by visiting https://beatrix.yale.edu/

  2. From the Overview page, scroll down to the Locations section.

    1. If the person has no locations entered, you’ll see an “add new” button. Click this to add a location.

    2. If the person has locations, you’ll see a list of them (highlighted in yellow below). Only locations set to the “Patient Care” location type will display on the Yale Medicine website (highlighted in green below).

    3. You can edit existing locations by clicking the location card and making updates to the information in the modal that appears. Once you have completed the changes, click Update to save them. You can remove the location by clicking Delete.

  3. To add a new Patient Care Location, click + Add New (highlighted in blue below)

Once you have clicked + Add New, a modal will appear to add a new location (shown below).

  • The Location Type field will determine what kind of location this is in the person’s profile. Only Patient Care locations will appear on the Yale Medicine website.

  • To add the location details, start typing the location address in the Building field. If the Building does not come up as a result, please send a message to ysm.editor@yale.edu and a member of the Web Services team will add it.

  • Once you have selected the Building, the rest of the fields will appear as additional information with the address. You can also add Phone numbers for the location and determine if the location will display on websites with the Show this address on websites? toggle.

  • Once you have finished adding the location details, click Add to add the location to the profile.
