Research Projects in Beatrix CMS

Many departments want to publicize their research projects to the public, patients, or prospective students/postdoc fellows. Beatrix offers three components that create clean, sortable layouts for displaying research on the web.

Part of Beatrix, the Research Projects Module pulls information from NIH Reporter to display content on your site.

This section of instructions provides information on creating Research Project Highlight, Research Project Listing, and Research Projects by Theme using Beatrix data, as well as the different display options for those listings.

Creating a Beatrix Project Highlight

There are three options for displaying a Research Project on a page, but before you do that, the researcher must have filled in the minimum details for their research projects and published.

Research Project Examples

Once a Research Project is published, you have three options for how it will display on a page.

1. Research Project Highlight

In CMS, the schema is “Research Project Highlight.”

This option allows Beatrix CMS admins to select individual published research projects. This is a great layout for lab websites or webpages with fewer than 5 projects.

This screenshot shows a Research project on a page. It can be easily incorporated to a page around other CMS content elements.

2. Research Project Listing

In CMS, the schema is “Research Project Listing.”

This option allows for an organization-based approach to listing research projects.

There are customizable fields and toggles (Required fields have an asterisk):

Title to Display Above Listing*
Organization*
Person (allows limiting by certain people in Beatrix)
Theme (this is a drop-down of the NIH’s Medical Subject Headings (MeSH))
Paid positions and/or Volunteers checkboxes
- allow for selection between “Hiring Paid Positions and/or Accepting Volunteers”
Recruiting Participants toggle

3. Research Projects by Theme

In CMS, the schema is “Research Project by Theme.”

This option allows for an organization-based approach to listing research projects by the combination of organization and at least 2 themes.
