The News and People Profile System (profile.yale.edu) allows you to manage various types of information associated with a person’s profile.

The following instructions will explain how to manage and edit a person’s education history.

 To begin managing education information:

  1. Visit https://profile.yale.edu

  2. Log in with your NetID and password

  3. Click Profiles in the navigation at the top of the page.

  4. Find and select the profile you want to edit (see Edit a Profile for more information).

  5. Click the Education button in the navigation on the left side of the page.

To view the profile you are editing, click the blue View Profile button at the top left of the page.

The changes must be saved for them to appear in the Profile.

 

Some of the education information will have been supplied by Yale HR, but you can add additional degrees in this section if you want.

  • If you would like to change the information supplied by HR, click the Request Change... button below the degree.

  • To add a degree, click Add New... at the bottom of the section and the fields below will pop-up.

Information for adding a degree to Education. The required fields are starred.

  1. Choose from the Degree drop-down list to indicate what kind of degree (MD, PhD, JD, etc.)

  2. Type in the Institution the degree was obtained from.

  3. Indicated the Date the degree was received using the Calendar tool.

  4. Specifying the Department or Major is optional.

  5. Click the check box next to Displayed on Websites (highlighted in yellow above) if you want this degree to be included on the websites for the profile.

  6. Determine the Privacy of the degree (Public or Private).

  7. Click the check box next to Include in my suffix list (highlighted in blue above) if you want the suffix associated with this degree to appear as an option in your suffixes.

  8. Determine the Location of the institution.

    • Select the Country with the drop-down menu

    • Begin typing in the location (City, State) and select from the choices that populate the field.

  9. Click Add when you are done entering the information to add the degree to Education.

You can edit or delete educational information, but only what has not been supplied by HR. Information you can edit is in bold, as shown below.

  • Any educational information from degrees you have added can be edited.

  • Department or Major as well as Privacy and Location for any information (included degrees supplied by HR) can be edited.

Editable content is shown in bold.

From this page, you can accomplish several tasks related to editing education information:

  • Check the box to the left of each degree if you want to include the degree in the suffixes for the profile (highlighted above in yellow).

  • Click on the globe icon (highlighted in blue above) or the pencil icon (highlighted in green above) to edit the education information.

  • Click on the trash can icon (highlighted in red above) to delete a degree

    • This is only available for degrees you have added

  • Click Request Change... if you want to change information added by HR.

The education information that is both marked Public and Display on Websites will populate on the website associated with the profile in the Biography section under Education & Training (highlighted below in yellow):
