Maps in Tridion

In addition to including standard text directions, you can add Google maps to your page via Tridion. 

  • Google maps have been integrated with the Faculty Profile System to enable YSM websites to easily create maps using data stored in the profile system.

Website editors can create a map with a single location or the locations associated with an organization from the Faculty Profile System.

This section of instructions provides information on creating Maps in Tridion using Google maps and Profile System data and inserting them on to a web page.

Adding or Editing a Location in the Profile System

Before creating a map in Tridion, you must first add the location information for your organization in the Faculty Profile System.

  • All data that is mapped on a Tridion website is pulled directly from the Profile System.

To add or edit location information associated with an organization:

  1. Visit https://profile.yale.edu

  2. Log in with your NetID and password.

  3. Click Organizations in the navigation at the top of the page.

  4. Find and select the organization you want to edit.

  5. Click the Contacts & Locations button in the navigation on the left side of the page.

  6. In the Locations section of this page, you can either edit current locations or add additional locations.

    • To edit an existing location, click the pencil/edit icon to the right of the location.

      • In the popup, edit the information and click Update.

    • To add another location, click Add New....

      • Select a location from the drop down menu and then add customized information about the location.

      • Click Update when finished.

      • If your location is not in the list, click Request a new address... to start the process of adding a location to the list.

  7. If you want your map to show all the locations associated with the organization, you should make note of the Organization ID.

    • On the Information & Description page of the organization, the Organization ID is listed in the top right of the Information section.

 

Creating a Map in Tridion

Tridion allows you to use organization information from the Profile System to create Google maps for your page.

If you only want to display a single location, as opposed to all locations associated with an organization, you will need the location’s Building ID.
