Status Update: September 17, 2022

Below is brief overview of the work being done to launch Epic Open Scheduler on YaleMedicine.org for selected Pediatric specialties by September 30, 2022

Achievements this week

1. Design completed. In collaboration with Cortney Mears at YNHH, the marketing teams at YNHH and YM created a common design for the Epic appointment widget that will live on both websites. (Read more)

2. Technology acquired. The YNHH information technology teams gave the YM team access to the necessary API and servers, which means the YM team can move forward with implementation. (Read more)

3. Website workflow adjusted. The YM team received new information that necessitated an update to how a user will see appointment availability for a provider. Design was completed and implementation will begin next week. (Read more)

Challenges

1. Data discrepancies. There continue to be questions about which providers and specialties are slated to go live by October 1. (Read more)

2. Testing data. The YM and YNHH teams need appointment data in Epic for testing purposes. (Read more)

3. Available appointments. It remains unclear how many providers in the launch tranche for pediatric specialties will have appointment availability to display on the website. In the third-next-appointment data, we see 60 of 141 providers with availability. (Read more)

4. Collaboration with YNHH IT team to resolve ongoing and newly identified issues must be tighter to address questions or problems more quickly.
