Eligibility and Introduction

If you provide direct patient care and have indicated in your profile that you do (see for more information), you will have a website for your profile on the Yale Medicine website (yalemedicine.org).

Unlike the Bio on your Yale School of Medicine website (see for more information), you can not simply enter or edit your Yale Medicine bio and see it appear or change on the website.

Yale Medicine Bios are written and managed by the Yale Medicine content team. However, you can give information and suggestions for your Bio through a survey in the YM Patient Care Biography section of the Biography tab.

There are 3 states for the Bio survey that will be discussed in these instructions.

  1. You just started your profile and need to enter the information in the survey so the content team can write a Bio for you.

  2. You have completed the survey and are waiting for the YM content team to write your Bio.

  3. You bio has been written and appears on YaleMedicine.org.

State 1: Before Completing the Survey

If you do not have a Yale Medicine Patient Care Biography but you have filled out the Patient Care settings for your profile (see for more information), the YaleMedicine.org Bio section will appear as an empty survey:

Complete the survey so that the YM content team can begin working with you to craft a custom Biography for your Yale Medicine website.

  1. In the first field, you can expand on your specialty or expertise

    • For example, you could enter “internal medicine - endocrinology - weight loss” or “neurology - pediatric - epilepsy”

  2. The next 4 fields are additional questions you can fill out to give the YM content team a sense of who you are as a doctor.

    • Patients and prospective patients enjoy knowing a bit about a physician, beyond specialty.

    • This is optional but answering these questions will provide information the YM content team can use to craft your patient-facing biography for the Yale Medicine website.

    • Answer in full sentences so that they can better incorporate the information into your biography.

Once you are done filling out the survey, you should see a message saying the following:

Thank you for responding to our request to help us create your Yale Medicine bio. As you can imagine, we have quite a few requests – but all are important! The Yale Medicine content team will respond to your request as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have updates to your answers above, please email us at ym.content@yale.edu.

State 2: After Completing the Survey, Before It Has Been Added to the Yale Medicine Website

After you complete the survey, the YM content team will get to work on a Biography for your Yale Medicine website. While that is happening, the YM Patient Care Biography section of the Biography page of your profile will look a little different:

State 2 of the YM Patient Care Biography. You should not be able to edit the survey answers, but changes can be submitted to ym.content@yale.edu.

You should no longer be able to edit the biography, and this section of your Biography page should update with the message below:

Thank you for responding to our request to help us create your Yale Medicine bio. The Yale Medicine content team will reach out to you to begin the process as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have updates to your answers below, please email us at ym.content@yale.edu.

  • The YM content team is working on creating the bio, and will reach out to you.

If you need to edit or update the information in the completed survey, email ym.content@yale.edu.

Once the Bio has been created, the YaleMedicine.org Bio will again change, which is covered in the next section of these instructions.

State 3: The Bio is Finished and Appears on Yale Medicine

After the YM content team has had a chance to work with you on your specific biography and has written it, the YM Patient Care Biography section of the Biography page of your profile in Beatrix will change again and look like this:

The completed bio appears in the YM Patient Care Biography section of the Biography page of your profile.

You can not directly edit this bio, but you can request an edit by emailing the Yale Medicine content team at ym.content@yale.edu.

Additionally, this Bio will appear just under the header of your profile on YaleMedicine.org:
