Complex Link Lists
Complex Link Lists are useful when you want to display many links, and you can easily divide the links into categories.
The following instructions will provide information on how to use Tridion to create Complex Lists of links that divide up the links into defined categories.

Creating Link Components
The first step in creating Complex Link Lists is to create individual Link Components to put into Link Lists.
For instructions on creating individual Link components, visit Basic Link Lists | Creating Link Components.
As you create the individual links, remember that they will need to be split into categories for the different Link Lists, so it may be helpful to label them in some way that helps with the categorization process.
Creating Link List Components
After creating the individual Link components, the next step is to create the groups or categories of Links using a Link List component.

Creating One Master List Component
Once you have created the individual Link components, sorted them into categories, and created Link List components for the groups, the next step is to create a master List component to house all of the Link List components.
Click New Component
(blue) to begin creating a List component.
In the same folder in Building Blocks that you created the Link and List components in, once again click the New Component
button (highlighted in blue above) in the Create tab (highlighted in yellow above):
You will be taken to a new page for creating the component (shown below):

Enter an appropriate Name for your component.
Select
List
from the Schema drop down menu.Display title: Enter the title you want displayed above the entire list.
List element: Click the magnifying glass icon on the right (highlighted above in blue).
You will be taken to your Building Blocks folder.
Select the first List you want to include and click
Insert
.
Back on the page for creating the master Link List component (shown above), click on the green +
icon (highlighted in yellow above) to add the rest of the Lists.
Select the other List components and click Insert
to add them to the master Link List component. Click Close
to return to the component page.
Once you have added multiple Link List components, you can remove them from the master list using the trashcan icons (highlighted in red above) or sort them by clicking and dragging the move icons (highlighted in blue above).
Once you are happy with your master list, click Save and Close
(highlighted in yellow above) and you are ready to add the component to a page.
Insert the List Component on to a Page
Now that you have created the master Link List, you will need to insert the link list onto a page.
Navigate in the Root Folder to the page you want the link list displayed on, and open it.
Click on the
Component Presentations
tab.Click the
Insert
button located at the bottom of the tab.In the window that opens, navigate to the location of the master link list you just created and click on the component.
Select one of the following templates from the Component Template dropdown menu:
Gateway Page List
: Select this template to display the link list as the main content on a page.All links will be visible upon opening the page, organized by category (as determined by the categorized link lists).
Expandable Side Column List
: Select this template to display the link list on the right side of the page.The links will be collapsed to only display the categories, and can be expanded by clicking on the category name.
Click
Insert
to add the component to your page, then clickClose
to return to the page.Save & Close
the page, and you are ready to Publish.
Examples of a Complex Link List on a Page

You can see the different List component’s Display Titles appearing above the section in the Gateway Page List
