Specialties

Within the Patient Care section of the Profile tab of the Beatrix (https://beatrix.yale.edu/), you can manage the Specialties and Sub-Specialties that are associated with your profile on YaleMedicine.org.

The following instructions will provide help for managing them.

• Because Patient Care information is more relevant to a doctor’s clinical practice, it will appear mostly in the profile on the Yale Medicine website (yalemedicine.org) as opposed to the more academic profile on the Yale School of Medicine website (medicine.yale.edu).

These instructions assume you have navigated to the Patient Care section.

Your Patient Care Specialties are prominently displayed on profiles and in search results to provide patients with information about a provider's specialty area(s), and the interface to update them has been streamlined.

• The label represents a grouping of keywords and does not reflect the membership of a person in a particular organization.

Adding a Specialty

To add a new Specialty or Sub-Specialty, search for a Specialty or Sub-Specialty in the Specialties section and the window below will pop up:

Adding a Specialty.

There are 2 options for finding and adding a Specialty:

1. Enter the specialty in the search bar and choose from the suggested options.

   • Click Add to add the specialty to the profile, and it will populate to the list above.

2. Using the category-based specialty tree:

   • A sideways arrow (highlighted in yellow above) indicates a specialty that you can click on to expand and show the sub-specialties.

   • Once expanded, the arrow will change to downward facing and reveal the sub-specialties (highlighted in blue above).

   • Use the + icon (highlighted in green above) to add the keyword, and it will populate to the list above.

Once you have added all the desired specialties, you can sort or delete them or decide whether they appear on websites:

Use the hamburger icons (highlighted in yellow above) to drag the specialties into the order that you want them to appear on the profile website.

Click the trash can icons (highlighted in green above) to delete a specialty.

Specialties feature prominently in the header of a profile on the Yale Medicine website, as shown below (highlighted in yellow):
